
I was sitting in one of my classes yesterday, and over heard a group of guys talking about bench pressing and protein shakes. I have never realized what these were, how they worked and the harm it actually has on the human body.
Being “huge” is important to many males; it makes them feel better and more powerful. Some of these men are not happy with their natural look, so now turning to enhancements to help enlarge their body mass.
In fact, extra protein actually leads to more body fat which does not directly relate to extra muscle. Excessive amounts of protein that these body builders take in can actually harm your kidneys and cause bone loss. Most people need about 40-60 grams of protein a day, which is about one breast of chicken. Most body builders consume about five times this recommended amount.
In conclusion, protein is important in your daily diet although unnatural in take can cause harm and obesity if not used properly. I feel as though if you cant get “huge” unnaturally, you probably shouldn’t look “huge!”

I think that protein drinks are a waste. Every time I see my friends or other guys drinking them I laugh because most guys think that these protein drinks will make them big and huge. The real way of getting bigger is from weight lifting, cardio workouts, and eating properly which includes protein like chicken. One of my good friends was explaining to me all the bad things about protein drinks, he said that they don’t work nearly as much or good as people expect and in the long run it is bad for your body and health. If you want to get bigger, be a real man-work out and eat food with protein instead of trying to take the cheap way out with protein drinks.
I used to drink protein shakes after my workout for recovery, but the way an average American eats we get plenty of protein in our diet, therefore no need for protein. I focused more on stretching after my workout so my muscles don't feel sore the next day.
I was surprised after reading your blog because I thought that there were some "Good" protein shakes out there for people such as creatine. While I personally do not take any protein shakes I found that through http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/creatine/creatine-benefits.htm this site that some proteins actually reduce the production of lactic acid and help regulate the glycolysis which is stored as fat in the human body. Good article. Protein shakes really do help. After a workout its probably better to have a protein shake than to get something to eat because a protein shakes gets absorbed faster into the body than a meal would. Taking protein before and after a workout is really not bad at all.
Protein is the most controversial subject in nutrition, I feel. It can be looked at so many different ways. When learning about protein you really have to go into it with an open mind and not always listen to what the media tells you. When I take something I do a lot of research on it myself.
this is a good post cause too many guys think that you HAVE to drink a shake when working out. i used to be big into working out and did the same thing. but there are different ways to get a good source of protien. although the shakes do work, like ryan said it is a very contraversial subject
